Ama Paolo Tomberli studied fashion at the Fine Art Academy of Naples.
In 2015, Ama moved to Germany and after working in fashion, became interested in performing arts.
At the Schaubühne Berlin, Ama gained their first experience in Theater and assisted e.g. Lilja Rupprecht and Anne-Cécile Vandalem. After the costume design for the movie Apollo & Artemisia by Savio de Bernardis, Ama has been a costume and set resident assistant at the Kassel State Theater 2020/2022. Ama worked as a costume designer for the productions P(a)inocchio by Lily Sykes, Stilte by Kristel Van Issum, Sadim by Sahar Damoni and Auf Wache by Lars-Ole Walburg as well as for 1 9 7 6 2 – solos and conectados by Candela Capitán.
Since 2022, Ama has been working as a freelance costume and stage designer, based in Berlin.
Parallel to performing arts, Ama explores the possibilities of visual arts and poetry. Through the fluidity of forms and colors that the watercolor pastels allow, Ama attempts to recreate a grotesque, yet romantic landscape where the spirit is allowed to enter. Ama sees art as modern magic, a transformative act that serves as a gate between realms.
